Our Theatre Spaces
Springer Theatre
Our flagship venue, the 350-seat Springer Theatre, sits nestled on the banks of the St. Lawrence river. Built in 1909 as the Gananoque Canoe Club, this beautifully restored heritage building has sweeping views of the picturesque 1000 Islands.
Inside, the lobby still reflects the canoe club’s original cottage-style charm, while the auditorium has been thoughtfully renovated into a modern, air-conditioned space with a proscenium stage blending historic character with contemporary comfort.
Firehall Theatre
Located at street level, our Firehall Theatre is conveniently situated right behind our Springer Theatre. This intimate 130-seat, black box space was designed for flexibility. The theatre features adaptable staging and seating, all thoughtfully designed to help bring audiences closer to the action.
This beautiful brick building began life as the Gananoque Armories in 1913 and subsequently became the Gananoque Fire and Police Station, before becoming the second venue for the Playhouse in 2004.
The Playhouse Production Facility
We're one of Ontario’s leading theatre production facilities.
We are proud to be home to one of Ontario’s leading theatre production facilities. Every set, costume, and prop for our productions is created in our 21,000 sqft facility in Gananoque. Our production team works with professional directors, designers and theatre-makers to bring their visions to life.
The facility also includes a green room, music room, and a brand new full-sized rehearsal hall complete with sprung floor, giving artists the space they need to create at their best.
