Accessibility
We want every visit to the Playhouse to be enjoyable, memorable, and accessible for all.
When booking your tickets, please let the Box Office know if there’s anything we can do to support your experience. We also recommend arriving at least 45 minutes before your performance to ensure a relaxed and seamless start to your visit.
Venue Accessibility
Springer Theatre
The Springer Theatre is located at our waterfront. It is a short walk down from street level but some guests may find the incline steep.
For those who would like drop off or shuttle assistance we have:
Courtesy Shuttle
We have a courtesy shuttle available to take customers from street level to the Springer Theatre accessible entrance. Courtesy shuttle service begins one hour prior to performance times, and resumes directly following the performance.
Drop Off
For those wishing to be dropped off at the Springer Theatre accessible entrance in their own vehicle, please speak with a member of our onsite parking team upon arrival. We can assist in helping you get your vehicle down the hill safely. Please note: there is no parking at the drop-off site and your vehicle will need to be moved after drop-off.
Firehall Theatre
The Firehall Theatre is at street level with an accessible entrance.
Accessibility at both Theatres
Both Springer and Firehall Theatre offer the following accessibility options to ensure an enjoyable experience for all.
Accessible Parking
Accessible parking is available for customers who display the proper documentation on their vehicle and is available on a first come, first serve basis. These spaces are located in the parking lot directly in front of the Firehall Theatre. These spots fill quickly, so be sure to arrive early for your best chance at securing a spot.
Accessible Seating
We offer mobility and wheelchair accessible seating in both our Springer and Firehall Theatres.
Guests are welcome to bring their own assistive devices to the theatre, however large devices such as walkers must be stored outside the theatre during performances – a member of our Front of House team will be there to assist.
Support Persons and Service Animals
We welcome support persons who provide assistance with communication, personal care, or access to our theatres and we participate in the Access2 card program. To arrange complimentary admission for a support person, please contact the Box Office prior to the performance.
Service animals are welcome! Please call our Box Office if you have any questions regarding best seating locations when visiting with your service animal.
Scent Allergies or Sensitivities
While we encourage our guests to refrain from wearing heavily scented products, we cannot guarantee a scent-free environment. If you have an allergy to scented products and need to be moved from your original seat, please notify a member of our Front of House team.
Hearing Assistance
We have a WIFI based hearing assist app which is available at our Springer Theatre called ‘ListenWIFI.’
‘ListenWIFI’ allows you to stream live, high-quality, audio of the performance directly to your cell phone. From your cell phone, you then connect your own headphones or hearing aids to enjoy the show. The audio feed can be adjusted to your personal volume preference.
* Please note: If using Bluetooth headphones/devices there may be a small delay in the audio feed. However, it should only be a maximum of a few seconds.
Before You Arrive
Please download and install the ‘ListenWIFI’ app before your visit to the Springer Theatre.
- Find “Listen WIFI” in your app store
- Download and install the free app to your cell phone or smart device
- Be sure to pack the headphones/hearing aids you plan to listen through.
At the Theatre
Once you are seated in the Springer Theatre:
- Select “LEGuest-5” as your WIFI channel
- *Please note, this is an app-specific WIFI channel and can only be used for the ‘ListenWIFI’ app*
- Click “Venue Scan” button
- Select the audio channel that says “Click Here” and Press Play
- Once the show begins, the audio will stream into your device/headphones
- If you need further assistance, please visit the Box Office before the performance for assistance with the app.
Relaxed performances
Relaxed performances are specifically created to be welcoming to audience members who may benefit from a more relaxed environment, including, but not limited to, those on the Autism Spectrum, with a sensory or communication disorder, a learning disability, dementia, a medical challenge, guardians with babes-in-arms, and anyone else who would like to attend.
A Relaxed Approach
We are taking a more relaxed approach to front-of-house etiquette, meaning exit and re-entry to the theatre and sound and movement within the audience is totally okay. Sound and lighting effects will be less intense and the auditorium light will stay on at a low level during the show.
For more accessibility information, please contact the Box Office.
