The Thousand Islands Playhouse
theatres in Gananoque Ontario,  are two fully renovated heritage venues celebrated for producing one of the widest ranges of professional theatre in the country. The theatres are located in a phenomenal natural setting directly on the banks of the St. Lawrence River, half way between Toronto and Montreal. The Springer and Firehall theatres present eight dynamic theatrical productions, professional art exhibitions, and six lively concerts between May and November. For 25 years the Playhouse has been offering theatre lovers on of the widest programming ranges of any professional theatre in the country, and arguably the most diverse in Ontario.

Springer Theatre productions have ranged from light and bright to moving and mysterious with unique Canadian writers delighting us with drama, comedy and romance.

Colourful musicals with vibrant sets and costumes have been audience favourites and have spanned settings from wartime to London, Russia and small town Canada.

Since the opening of the Firehall Theatre in 2004, the programming and potential for stylistic innovation has expanded even further.

All the world really is a stage and we bring it all to you from our unique corner of the planet.

Our audiences agree.

The Gardens at the Thousand Islands Playhouse have been part of the experience for many years

The Playhouse offers a wide range of accessible cultural experiences in the refreshing setting of the classic resort town of Gananoque.

Standing on the famous decks of the Springer Theatre you absorb the inimitable tranquility of the Thousand Islands before/in-between/and after the show.  Some theatregoers even moor right at our doorstep.

Gananoque itself is slightly off the beaten track, but filled with surprises - ranging from world-class restaurants and accommodations to numerous shops, nature experiences and golf courses. Easily accessible from Highway 401, and just off the 1000 Islands Parkway half and hour from the International Bridge, it's a special getaway, where you can quickly leave everything (except your good taste) behind.
